Some batteries need to charge fast. All batteries need to be maintained. The PowerTender® 8 Amp/2 Amp IP65 delivers both in one unit — 8 Amp high-output charging for rapid battery recovery, 2 Amp maintenance mode for long-term storage, IP65 weather resistance for permanent installation in any environment, and full Multi-Chemistry support for both lead-acid and Lithium batteries. The most capable mid-range charger in the Battery Tender® lineup.

Dual Output: 8 Amp Charging, 2 Amp Maintenance

The PowerTender® 8 Amp/2 Amp uses a dual-output architecture: 8 Amp for high-speed bulk charging of depleted batteries, and 2 Amp for ongoing maintenance of fully charged batteries. At 8 Amp, a depleted 60Ah automotive battery recovers in approximately 7–8 hours. Once charging is complete, ISM (Infinite Sequential Monitoring™) transitions to 2 Amp maintenance mode automatically, holding the battery at peak voltage without overcharging for as long as the charger remains connected.

Multi-Chemistry: Lead-Acid and Lithium

A manual chemistry selector switches between lead-acid and Lithium (LiFePO4) charging profiles, delivering the correct absorption voltage and float protocol for each battery type. Modern vehicles and powersports equipment increasingly use Lithium as factory-standard or aftermarket batteries — the PowerTender® 8 Amp/2 Amp supports both chemistries correctly at full 8 Amp output.

ISM: 4-Stage Charging at 8 Amp or 2 Amp

• Initialization — Battery health check and chemistry confirmation before current flows
• Bulk Charge — Full 8 Amp output restores depleted capacity rapidly at the correct voltage for the selected chemistry
• Absorption — Current tapers automatically as the battery approaches full charge, preventing overcharge at either chemistry setting
• Float Maintenance — 2 Amp maintenance current with the correct protocol for lead-acid or Lithium, delivered 24/7, indefinitely, without overcharging

Compatible battery size range: 20Ah to 150Ah at 12V. Lead-acid: flooded, AGM, gel cell, and sealed maintenance-free. Lithium: LiFePO4.

IP65 Weather Resistance — Permanent Installation Ready

IP65 certification provides complete dust protection and water jet resistance. The PowerTender® 8 Amp/2 Amp can be permanently mounted in outdoor locations, engine compartments, and semi-exposed storage environments where standard indoor chargers cannot operate.

Automatic Temperature Compensation

Charge voltage adjusts automatically based on ambient temperature for lead-acid applications — increasing in cold conditions to ensure complete charging, reducing in heat to prevent overcharging. Critical for IP65 outdoor-mounted installations where temperatures vary significantly.
