Battery Tender® Quick Disconnect OBDII Adapter

The Battery Tender® OBDII Adapter connects a Battery Tender® charger directly to a vehicle's OBDII diagnostic port — located under the dashboard on all vehicles manufactured after 1996 — eliminating the need to open the hood or access the battery directly. Plug the adapter into the OBDII port, connect the charger, and maintain the battery through the vehicle's wiring without touching the battery terminals.

How It Works

Modern vehicles draw a small continuous current from the battery to power onboard computers, memory functions, and security systems. The OBDII port provides access to the vehicle's electrical system through the same connection used for diagnostic tools, allowing a Battery Tender® charger connected through the adapter to maintain battery voltage through the vehicle's wiring without direct terminal access.

Critical Compatibility Warning

The Battery Tender® OBDII Adapter is rated for a maximum of 3 Amps. It is compatible with the Battery Tender® Junior 750mA, Junior Multi-Chemistry 1 Amp, and Plus 1.25 Amp chargers only. Do not use with PowerTender®, PowerPlus, or any charger rated above 3 Amps — exceeding the adapter's current rating will damage the adapter and may damage the vehicle's electrical system.

SAE Quick Disconnect Connector

Uses the same SAE J563 two-pin quick disconnect connector as the Battery Tender® charger line. Compatible with Battery Tender® SAE extension cables for additional reach between the OBDII port and the charger.
