Most chargers are built for garages. The PowerTender® 5 Amp 12V/24V is built for everything else. Fully potted aluminum housing. IP67 waterproof rating. 12V and 24V output. Fully Potted Aluminum Housing — What That Means
Potted construction completely encapsulates the charger's internal electronics in a protective compound inside a sealed aluminum housing — no internal air gaps, no moisture ingress points, no vibration-susceptible circuit board flex. Potted aluminum construction is the standard for military electronics, marine instruments, and industrial automation equipment. It is not common in consumer battery chargers. The PowerTender® 5 Amp 12V/24V is one of the few in the Battery Tender® line to use it.
IP67: Full Immersion Protection
IP67 certification means complete dust protection and water immersion resistance to 1 meter for 30 minutes — a step beyond the IP65 weather resistance of standard outdoor chargers. This unit can be mounted in bilge-adjacent compartments, outdoor industrial equipment enclosures, military vehicle storage bays, and marine engine rooms where spray and splash are unavoidable.
Multi-Chemistry: Lead-Acid and Lithium
A manual chemistry selector switches between lead-acid and Lithium (LiFePO4) charging profiles, delivering the correct ISM absorption voltages and maintenance protocol for each battery type at either voltage setting. 24V Lithium battery systems in commercial vehicles, marine vessels, and industrial equipment are fully supported alongside conventional 24V lead-acid configurations.
12V and 24V — For Two-Battery Systems and Commercial Vehicles
The manual 12V/24V selector addresses battery configurations that standard chargers cannot handle. 24V systems are standard in large diesel trucks, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery, marine vessels with dual-battery banks, and military equipment. At 5 Amp output, the PowerTender® 5 Amp 12V/24V charges large 24V batteries efficiently while delivering the same ISM precision as the standard 12V line.
ISM: 4-Stage Charging at Either Voltage and Chemistry
- Initialization — Battery health check and polarity confirmation before current flows at the selected voltage and chemistry
- Bulk Charge — Full 5 Amp output at 12V or 24V restores depleted capacity at the correct voltage for the selected chemistry
- Absorption — Current tapers automatically as the battery approaches full charge, preventing overcharge damage for lead-acid and Lithium alike
- Float Maintenance — Correct maintenance protocol for the selected chemistry delivered 24/7, indefinitely, without overcharging
Compatible battery size range: 20Ah to 150Ah at 12V or 24V. Lead-acid: flooded, AGM, gel cell, and sealed maintenance-free. Lithium: LiFePO4.
