The Jump N Start is a dedicated portable lithium jump starter — it provides emergency starting power but does not charge or maintain the vehicle battery. The Charge N Start combines full ISM smart charging and maintenance (same algorithm as the Battery Tender® Plus) with lithium jump starting power in one unit. If you want one device for both storage season maintenance and emergency starting, choose Charge N Start. If you only need emergency starting power, Jump N Start is the choice.
For most passenger cars and smaller gas engines: 600 peak amps. For full-size cars, trucks, and larger gas engines up to 6.5L: 800 to 1500 peak amps. For full-size trucks, SUVs, and gas engines up to 8.0L plus diesel engines up to 6.5L: 2000 peak amps. Battery Tender® Jump N Start models cover 600 to 2000 peak amps to match any vehicle.
Yes — and it is safer and more convenient. A Battery Tender® Jump N Start requires no second vehicle, eliminates the risk of incorrect cable connection sequence, and fits in a glove compartment. The 2000 Amp model starts any gas engine and most diesel engines up to 6.5L without needing another car present.
Red clamp to the positive battery terminal. Black clamp to an unpainted metal surface away from the battery — not the negative terminal itself. Power on the Jump N Start. Attempt to start the engine. Once started: turn off the Jump N Start, remove the black clamp first, then the red clamp. Connect a Battery Tender® charger and maintainer to fully recharge the vehicle battery afterward.
Battery Tender® Jump N Start lithium models retain charge for several months without use — significantly longer than lead-acid jump starters which require monthly recharging. Check the charge indicator before any trip and recharge after each use to maintain full emergency readiness.
