9 Badass Rides Near Bike Week

Are you planning to participate in Bike Week this year? Are you on your way here now? Battery Tender’s headquarters are just down the road from the main Bike Week events in DeLand, Florida. Whether you’re visiting the area in the next few weeks or you’re planning a trip sometime in the future here are some great spots to ride your motorcycle in the area.

01 // A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway (www.ScenicA1A.org):

State Road A1A is 338.752 miles long. For our metric friends, that’s 545.168 kilometers. There are a ton of attractions along a 2 hour, 72 mile stretch of A1A near Daytona. These include the St. Augustine Lighthouse, Marineland, and Fort Matanzas National Monument. A1A is a must-drive iconic road.

02 // Heritage Crossroads (HeritageCrossroads.org):

"The history of Heritage Crossroads is the history of this great country." The communities that are connected by this highway have embraced the heritage of those who built this region. For many hundreds of years, Native American tribes, European conquerors, colonists that settled in this region, and modern people of today have traveled the Heritage Crossroads network of roads. Now it can be your turn to experience these historic routes.

03 // Florida Black Bear Scenic Byway (FloridaBlackBearScenicByway.org):

Take a ride and experience stunning wetland and pinelands when traversing this 116-mile long corridor. Many natural springs dot the area. It truly deserves to be called ‘scenic.’

04 // Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail (OrmondScenicLoopAndTrail.com):

The 34-mile double-looped roadway is home to a diverse set of natural scenery. A number of historic sites can also be found along this route. WW2 History buffs may be particularly interested in visiting the World War 2 Submarine Watch Tower.

05 // Halifax Heritage Byway (No Website):

There’s a lot of history in Florida and riding the Halifax Heritage Byway is a great way to explore some of that history. Bethune-Cookman University, a historically black university, was founded over 100 years ago in 1904. You will also see the world’s most famous race track, Daytona International Speedway while on this ride. The Ponce-Inlet Lighthouse is another interesting site to visit in the area.

06 // River of Lakes Heritage Corridor Scenic Highway (RiverofLakesHeritageCorridor.org):

We’re particularly fond of this trek because it will take you through historic DeLand, home of Battery Tender’s headquarters. Blue Springs State Park is one of the most beautiful springs in the entire state. The Central Florida Zoo, located in Sanford Florida is another fantastic local destination.

07 // Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway (SumterByway.com):

Charming small towns, cattle ranches, and horse farms flank this 62-mile long corridor. These pastoral farmlands make for a wondrous and relaxing excursion.

08 // Green Mountain Scenic Byway (GreenMountainByway.org)

This byway can be found to the west Orlando. The 45-mile long scenic road is an international destination because of its gentle curves and rolling hills. It is a spectacular region to explore.

09 // Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway (IndianRiverLagoonByway.com)

Space Exploration enthusiasts may be excited to ride this byway and visit the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. SpaceX is set to launch a rocket in March but the date is TBD. There’s a lot to explore here including beaches, hiking trails, and fishing spots.
